Challenges

To address the live and operational nature of the site, we collaborated with the client to develop a tailored logistics strategy that remained sensitive to their operational requirements. We established a protected route from the main building to accommodate their fire safety requirements, ensuring compliance while maintaining operations. This flexible approach was further supported by effective segregation measures and seamless communication between our delivery team and warehouse staff, minimising disruption to the client’s business.

The integration of the new steel frame with the existing structure required careful coordination. By engaging our specialist subcontractor early, we conducted surveys that informed the design process, ensuring smooth integration and minimal impact on the overall programme.

We also mitigated a significant risk related to the movement of imported fill material from the client’s nearby site. To streamline this process, we recommended appointing an environmental specialist and assisted in implementing the CL:AIRE protocol, allowing excavated material to be reused without classification as waste. This approach reduced environmental impact and ensured the project stayed on schedule.
