The two-storey block comprises six classrooms, a food technology room, a new hall, and welfare facilities. We also delivered a new 3G multi-use games area, hard playground areas and extended parking facilities.

As the project was delivered on a live school site our team carefully considered all options to mitigate disruption to the school.  A temporary carpark was formed to safely relocate staff parking, new mains services were laid and connected during school holidays, and the MUGA and hard play areas were constructed early to maintain pupil play amenities.  Throughout the build our site manager held weekly meetings with the school’s facilities manager to ensure that he was well informed of forthcoming works.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We worked to make sure that the school community was engaged with the project as it progressed. Artwork made by the children decorated our site hoardings, a “Topping-Out” ceremony was held, and our Site Manager attended assemblies and question and answer sessions for pupils. We also led some construction related education activities and supplied materials for the schools adjacent nursery, that enabled them to repurpose unwanted materials into play equipment for the children.

“This has been my first experience of a large building project at a school, as a school leader. To that end, I wanted to communicate how helpful and professional the Site Manager has been. No question was ever left unanswered, and the Site Manager met with me regularly to ensure that I was fully aware of the works being undertaken, at what stage, and what impact they may have on the school (e.g. increased vehicle movement or noise). I am sure that I asked lots of ridiculous questions during the early days, but nothing went unanswered and the Site Manager was always happy to help. In addition, whenever the school had a need to pass on any issues, the Site Manager always acted immediately.
