The project comprised of six new individual dwellings across a three acre site built around a number of retained established trees. The development was named after the classically mature beech trees that are present across the site.
The dwellings were constructed utilising traditional concrete foundations with a ground bearing slab or beam & block. The superstructure is a mixture of traditional brick and blockwork at ground floor level with a mixture of timber frame and steelwork at first floor level. The façade of the dwellings are red bricks with buff brick features and small sections of render. One of the highlights of the dwellings are the roofs, each roof is clad in Rustique Plain Tiles with valley tiles & bonnet hips. Dormers were clad in lead. UPVC windows and patio doors throughout.
The bespoke kitchens were design and supplied by Touchwood and were the highlight of each dwelling and included a high specification of appliances. Bathrooms and ensuites had high quality sanitaryware and wall tiling.
Each dwelling is heated via an air source heat pump located externally. The dwellings have a wet underfloor heating system at ground floor and radiators at first floor level.
The project won the RIBA Suffolk Craftmanship Awards in 2023.
