Completion reached at Ermine Street Church Academy Extension - Barnes Construction

In September last year, Barnes Construction’s first project with Cambridgeshire County Council was completed.

The project to deliver six new classrooms, associated WC’s, break out space and storage spaces at Ermine Street Church Academy, Alconbury Weald.

Working alongside Superstructures, Atkins Réalis, Johns Slater and Haward and R H Partnership Architects, the extension was designed and constructed to match the appearance of the existing school, and some fantastic drone footage was captured thanks to Hi-Eye Photographics.

Social value was an important focus of this project, and Barnes Construction worked closely with Cambridgeshire County Council throughout the project to deliver an amazing £2.8m in community benefits – which matched the project’s overall value!

Four areas of social value Impact Evaluation criteria over the scheme were targeted. They included tackling economic inequality, the creation of new business, jobs and skills, increasing supply chain resilience and capacity, and wellbeing.
