Telescopic Forklift Operator - Barnes Construction

The Company

Barnes Construction is the largest division of The Barnes Group Limited and offers a comprehensive professional construction service. Since the company was formed in 1978, we have established ourselves as a client-focused building contractor, completing various projects for blue chip and repeat business clients. Whilst our Head Office is based in Ipswich, we operate throughout the UK on a wide range of projects, mainly within the Health, Leisure, Education, Retail and Commercial sectors. 

We are looking to appoint a Telescopic Forklift Operator to join our team.

Reporting to: Senior Contracts Manager

Location: A12/A14 Corridor

Contract type: Full time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive

Immediate colleagues: Site Management Team

Schedule: 43¾ hours per week (Monday – Friday)

Skills required:

• Good mobility and co-ordination skills to complete physical tasks.
• Ability to build a good working relationship with Site Managers and follow their instructions.
• Excellent concentration skills and spatial awareness.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
• A high level of attention to detail.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and effectively manage changing priorities.  
• Flexible approach to meet the business needs.
• Good understanding of construction site safety procedures, ensuring relevant health and safety regulations are followed at all times.

Essential:

• The right to work in the UK
• Full driving licence

Qualifications:

• An accredited Telescopic Forklift operating certificate/card from an industry recognised scheme – e.g. CPCS Telehandler A17 Competent Operator (the current accreditation renewal date needs to be confirmed so that further requalification training can be considered)
• CSCS Labourer card
