THE WORKS COMPRISED OF A MULTI PHASED REFURBISHMENT AND ALTERATIONS TO THE EXISTING TOWN HALL, WITH A COMMITMENT TO PROVIDE A SHOWCASE CENTRE AT THE HEART OF THE BOROUGHS OPERATIONS.
The first phase of works primarily covered the south wing of the building overlooking Clockhouse Avenue with the north wing following in Phase 2. The east elevation or front of the building was integrated into both phases. The brief for the works was to provide a bright modern open plan working environment giving a new lease of life to the existing 1930’s architecture. Major structural works included the removal of most internal masonry walls and the installation of a bespoke steel frame, formed the primary element of the project. The complete refurbishment included new triple glazed windows, heating & ventilation, electrical, toilets, kitchens and finishes. The refurbishment works were undertaken with the building remaining operational throughout the project.
As part of our continued community support initiative and the project being registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme, we invited local school children to decorate part of the site hoarding for entry into a national competition. The final designs are now on display on the site hoarding adjacent to the main entrance.
Key features of the project include:
- Building remaining occupied during the works
- Environmentally sustainable brown roof area
- Upgraded IT Installation Inc. CAT6 provision to all areas
- New ventilation and cooling systems
- New environmentally efficient kitchens and toilet areas
- New floor finishes
