THE PROJECT COMPRISES OF THE REFURBISHMENT OF THE EXISTING MRI DAY CLINIC FACILITIES WITHIN IPSWICH HOSPITAL.
The works comprise of the phased replacement of two existing scanner machines together with the refurbishment of the scanner rooms, control rooms, consulting rooms and waiting areas.
The original scanner machines were installed during 2005/2006 as part of a two phased MRI Scanner refurbishment project undertaken by Barnes Construction and the equipment was therefore at the end of its operational lifespan and in need of replacement with the latest Siemens MRI Scanner machine technology.
The project was undertaken in three phases to ensure that two scanner machines remained in operation at all times. The building work associated with the project comprised of partitions remodelling, faraday cage installations, alterations to roof openings to allow the removal and installation of the MRI Scanner machines, new floor, wall and ceiling finishes, new joinery installations and the installation of complex building services to both the room areas and to serve the specialist equipment.
Key Features of the project were
- Phased refurbishment within an operational hospital facility
- Faraday cage installations
- Craned installation of new MRI machines
- Complex building services installations to serve new scanner machines
