THE PROJECT COMPRISED OF A NEW MATHS BLOCK INCORPORATING CLASSROOMS, STAFF ROOMS, TOILETS AND ADMINISTRATION AREAS, ALL CONSTRUCTED WITHIN THE GROUNDS OF THE EXISTING SCHOOL. THE PROJECT WAS PROCURED VIA A PARTNERING PROJECT USING JCT DESIGN AND BUILD CONTRACT
Due to the close proximity of the existing school, we were required to work closely with the local Planning Authority in order to match the appearance and external features of the existing buildings.
The building was constructed using traditional construction methods with a steel frame, masonry walls, cast in-situ floors and a three layer felt roof finish; topsoil strip was stockpiled on site for re-use on this and other sites within the Borough.
Key features of the project were:
- Positive relationship formed with the school and site visits hosted for pupils studying nearby
- Re use of topsoil on site and other client sites in the area providing a considerable saving to the project
- Project delivered in budget and on time
- Partnering project using JCT D&B contract
