THE PROJECT COMPRISED OF THE REMODELLING AND REFURBISHMENT OF THE EXISTING CHRIST’S COLLEGE BOATHOUSE.
The works comprised of the demolition of the old single storey boat store and erection of a new two storey side extension. The new accommodation includes ground floor level boat storage bays and a new training and gym facility at first floor level. The project also included the remodelling of the retained section of the Boathouse building comprising of a first floor extension incorporating new changing and toilet facilities in addition to refurbishment of the remaining areas. Access to undertake the construction works had been achieved via an agreement with the adjacent Barclays Bank.
The new extension was formed using a two storey steel framed structure supported off a piled foundation solution. Externally, the building envelope has been formed with a combination of facing brickwork, glazed sliding screens and windows and timber brise soleil. The pitched roof areas have been finished with plain clay roof tiles. Internally, the building incorporates new robust finishes and energy efficient new building services installations.
