The installation of the sweet chestnut Glulam frame and cross laminated timber deck for the roof of the new dining hall at Homerton College, Cambridge has been completed.
Designed by Fielden Fowles, and built by Barnes, the £10 million scheme has some unusual design elements. Firstly, the new dining hall will have an inverted zinc roof supported by the exposed Glulam beams, and secondly the whole building will be clad in faience which are glazed terracotta units.
As well as Barnes and Fielden Fowles, the construction team comprises Structure Workshop, Max Fordham, Bremner Partnership and Ingleton Wood.
The project is due for to be completed at the end of this year.
