Arthur Rnak Hospice in Cambridge has been awarded RICS East of England Project of the Year 2017.
Thirty six of the East of England’s most impressive and community beneficial property schemes were in the running for an award and the winners were announced at a gala dinner which took place at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds. TV Presenter Melissa Porter hosted this year’s ceremony which attracted over 200 local property professionals.
The highly-acclaimed Project of the Year title is presented to the scheme which demonstrates overall outstanding best practice and an exemplary commitment to adding value to its local area. The Arthur Rank Hospice construction project which was delivered by LSI Architects, Faithful + Gould and Barnes Construction, has transformed the facilities with the use of latest technologies to support the community in end-of-life care.
The new hospice, which also won the ‘Community Benefit’ category, incorporates a commercial kitchen, day facilities and an education centre for the hospice to train healthcare professionals in good end-of-life care.
The judges commented: “We were very impressed with the way the building is centred around the needs of the patients and their families and the extra facilities provided. The site was very carefully selected for easy access and to make the hospice part of the community.”
All category winners will now go on to compete against other regional winners at the RICS Grand Final on Thursday 2 November 2017 in London, for the chance to be crowned overall UK winner in their respective category.
