This summer’s ‘Pigs Gone Wild’ fundraising initiative by St Elizabeth Hospice was a resounding success, smashing all expectations by raising a total of £200,000.

Among the buyers who dipped into their piggy bank to secure their favourite painted sculpture at the auction in September was The Barnes Group.

Sponsored by Ipswich Buses, ‘A Pig’s Got to Travel’ has now arrived at its permanent home, Barnes Construction, following 10 weeks at the town’s bus station.

William Barnes, Chairman of Barnes Group and chairman of trustees for St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “As proud supporters of St Elizabeth Hospice, it has been wonderful to see Pigs Gone Wild attract so much interest and raise much-needed funds. The pig now stands proudly outside our offices, greeting staff and visitors. The Group takes its corporate social responsibility seriously, and where possible we aim to support local charities through employee fundraising, donations or pro bono support.”

Norman Lloyd, who led the Pigs Gone Wild project, commented: “We are really pleased to see another of our lovely pig sculptures settling in to a new home – and this pig didn’t have to travel very far to find its new family! Many thanks to Barnes Group for purchasing ‘A Pig’s got to Travel’ and supporting the hospice.”
