BARNES CONSTRUCTION WON ITS FIRST MAJOR CONTRACT IN CAMBRIDGE IN 2007, WHEN IT WAS COMMISSIONED TO BUILD THE KAVLI INSTITUTE FOR COSMOLOGY STUDY CENTRE FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE.
Since then, we have worked hard to build a reputation, both as a non-confrontational contractor and one of the area’s most highly experienced, friendly and reliable construction businesses.
Cambridge is unique when compared to the rest of East Anglia. Due to its standing and heritage for its excellence in education and research, clients want their projects to be of the highest quality and specification.
Today, we are a well-established contractor in Cambridge with an impressive portfolio of successful schemes completed. It is an agile business that can adapt quickly at an operational level to meet changing needs and restrictions around a project. However, customer focus continues to be at the forefront of our business, and our experience and flexibility enables delivery of a quality bespoke service.
We are also proud that we have produced award-winning projects in Cambridge. In 2013, Leckhampton House (pictured) at Corpus Christi College was voted the ‘People’s Choice’ in the Cambridge Design and Construction Awards. The work carried out converting existing terraced housing fronting Newnham Road, to create graduate accommodation for Clare College, also picked up a ‘special award’ for considerate contractor.
Another accolade came this year when the new £10.5 million hospice for Arthur Rank was presented with ‘Project of the Year’ at the RICS East of England Awards.
