TONY GARNHAM
Associate Divisional Director
Tony joined Barnes Construction in 2008 as a Quantity Surveyor having previously spent 9 years with a local contractor. He began his career as a trainee Estimator and developed a swift understanding of the construction processes through rotation in each department and site-based working. His interest in the commercial aspects of construction guided him to the Quantity Surveying department, where he achieved his First Class Honours degree at APU. At Barnes, Tony was promoted to Surveying Manager in 2011 and oversaw the commercial aspects of our Marston’s framework projects as well as working to develop our Cambridge portfolio.
Tony has played a key role in driving the company’s growth and success in Cambridge and was promoted to Commercial Chief Cambridge in 2022. He has been involved in over 40 projects for Cambridge College’s and working with his teams to deliver numerous award-winning complex schemes resulting in his promotion to Associate Divisional Director in 2024. He oversees the financial and contractual aspects of each project from inception to completion, to ensure cost effective solutions, risk mitigation and delivery of high-quality outcomes across all phases of the projects.
Tony is renowned for his collaborative and honest approach and excels in building strong relationships with clients, consultants, supply chain partners and colleagues. He has been influential in the development and mentoring of our Quantity Surveying team and ensuring our non-adversarial values are maintained.
