Simon Severwright
Surveying Director

Simon joined Barnes in 1997 as a recruit to our Management Trainee Scheme. Pursuing a career in Quantity Surveying, he progressed through various roles within the department until promotion in 2021 to his current role as Surveying Director.

Within this role, Simon is responsible for the Quantity Surveying and Buying departments, managing all post contract commercial issues. His responsibilities include overseeing the procurement of our work, through the management of our approved subcontractor and supplier databases, and regularly interfacing with current or prospective members of our supply chain.

A key focus is ensuring that we maintain a fair, reasonable and non-adversarial approach to any issues encountered, in line with the original values upon which Barnes Construction was founded. This approach applies in equal measure to relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

As well as overseeing development of his team, Simon now also manages our highly successful Management Trainee programme, and has relationships with local schools and sixth forms, regularly attending careers events and providing information on the many careers construction has to offer.
