The building incorporates hangar and garage for emergency response vehicles, as well as areas for training and meeting, medical care and staff welfare. The building is comprised of a concrete pad foundation supporting a two-storey steel frame and is clad externally.

As the works were completed on a live airfield, and we worked closely with its operators to ensure that our works were carried out safely and with minimal disruption, including careful coordination regarding crane lifts on the airfield. Short term programmes were amended to accommodate changes in the airfield’s operational requirements. We installed a robust site perimeter fence and inspected this regularly to ensure that no debris presenting a risk to aircraft had escaped.

An extensive value engineering exercise was carried out on the scheme, saving in excess of £50,000 through items such as alternative luminaire selection, with no negative impact upon the completed building.
