The first-floor servery areas were fully refurbished, four new lifts were provided to allow access for catering equipment to all floors, and the existing Dining Hall ceiling was redecorated.
We maintained daily communication with the College regarding our activities, and long-term programmes took their requirements into account. This included not undertaking noisy works during examination periods. Dining Hall ceiling works were undertaken over the summer holiday period so that the space was available for College use during term time. We also monitored vibration and dust levels to ensure that these remained at an acceptable level.
Proactive re-sequencing of the programme was required when a wall within the Servery was found to comprise re-worked chalk. The wall was originally intended to support the plant deck, and have two new doorways through it. Whilst working with the structural engineer and Historic England to develop a solution, we mitigated the impact by re-sequencing our programme, working simultaneously on both sides of the wall.
“We really appreciate the consistently constructive way in which your team have engaged with us through thick and thin on the project. Hopefully we can bring everything home as expected and sit down in the Parker Room in a few months with a big smile on our faces.”
Tim Harvey-Samuel, Bursar, Corpus Christi College.
