The project comprised the construction of a 128 bedroom Travelodge hotel including bar café regenerating a plot that contained run down dwellings being occupied by squatters. The project incorporated modern methods of construction and was procured via a negotiated design and construct arrangement.

The accommodation within the new hotel comprised 128 en-suite bedrooms, Bar Café, lift and stairwell cores, corridors, laundry rooms and staff areas.

The building was constructed using a steel frames transfer structure to the ground floor area and a five / six storey Metframe structure to the hotel accommodation above. The project also incorporated the use of ‘off site’ prefabricated bathroom pods. The external envelope of the building was finished with a combination of rainscreen cladding and insulated render together with a feature brise soleil system to the main elevation.
