Official Opening of The Shack for FIND Charity - Barnes Construction

We recently celebrated the opening of ‘The Shack’ for FIND (Families in Need) Charity.

A great charity that has been operating in Ipswich for over 30 years supporting families with food parcels, furniture, and other household items. An army of over 80 volunteers regularly give their time freely to check and sort the donated food, collect items from local stores, make up the food parcels and deliver them. It’s a six-day a week operation.

The demand for food parcels has risen year on year and FIND now distributes an average of 120-150 parcels every week and even more at Christmas – more than 7,000 every year.

The project was a charitable project where we constructed a new standalone furniture store building at cost, making no charge for overheads and profit. Constructed over a 12week duration, the new 70m² steel frame and metal clad type building will support an offsite manufactured store facility and aid FIND with the demand for food parcels.

The project consultant team worked on the project free of charge and the electrical installations were installed by DPL Group at no cost.

The warehouse was officially opened by Ipswich Town FC manager Kieran McKenna.
