As a result of its continued growth, Ipswich-based Barnes Construction has promoted four members of its team to Associate Divisional Directors.
In their newly created positions, Damien Kerry, Dan Mackenzie, Daniel Sheldrake, and Matthew Ramplin, have now been appointed as members of the Barnes Construction Divisional Senior Management Team, and alongside the existing board, they will play a pivotal role in supporting and driving the future growth and success of the business.
Damien Kerry joined Barnes in 2000 as a Management Trainee and has progressed through the business settling into Quantity Surveying before becoming Surveying Manager and then Pre-Contracts Manager. As Associate Director, he will oversee the estimating team within the Pre-Contracts Department, bringing his well-rounded background and experience to provide important input into tender submissions. He will also be the key point of contact for the Suffolk County Council framework.
Having joined the company in 2015 as Bid Manager, Dan Mackenzie, has been instrumental in developing work-winning processes to support the pre-contracts functions. He is a passionate advocate for Barnes’ reputation as a fair, non-adversarial and wholly collaborative business with its clients, consultants, and sub-contractor supply chains. As Associate Director he will lead the bid management, planning and marketing teams, and will continue to be heavily involved in further developing Barnes’ strategy for its net zero journey.
Daniel Sheldrake joined Barnes in 2006 as an Assistant Design Manager and progressed quickly, working on the designs for some of the company’s most complex and high-profile projects. As Associate Director, he will lead the design management department, ensuring the team provides continuity from tender to completion on site. He will also be the primary contact for Barnes’ in-house development opportunities, and together with Dan, will continue to drive forward the sustainability agenda within the business.
In 2004, Matthew Ramplin joined Barnes as Assistant Site Manager. He is a Chartered Construction Manager and rose through the business becoming Site Manager, Project Manager, and then Senior Contracts Manager. He is experienced in overseeing all aspects of the construction process with expertise in leading large scale complex projects. As Associate Divisional Director, he will have direct responsibility for delivering projects in Cambridge, the hotel & leisure and nuclear generation sectors, and Essex Health Care.
Bob Steward and Mark Hart are Joint Managing Director at Barnes Construction. They are delighted to welcome Damien, Dan, Daniel, and Matthew to the senior team, saying: “Our construction business has continued to grow in recent years notwithstanding a challenging business environment, and we are delighted to share the news of these internal promotions. Our people care about what they do and how they do it, and how it benefits all clients and stakeholders. These appointments will ensure that our ‘family’ ethos and growth is maintained and secured for the foreseeable future.”
