Mark joined Barnes Construction in 1982 as the third recruit to our Management Trainee Scheme. His keen interest in the mechanics of construction meant that he was quickly drawn into a Site Management role - the first trainee to pursue this career path within the business. Mark’s excellent problem-solving abilities meant that he progressed through Site and Contracts Management roles, before being promoted to Framework Manager in 2006, and Divisional Director in 2010.
Mark's role at Barnes Construction involves overseeing the successful delivery of our live construction projects. He is also the Director responsible for Frameworks, and reports on supply chain, KPI and quality assurance performance at board level. Mark enjoys enabling and supporting his teams to achieve quality outcomes for our clients, taking particular pleasure in seeing colleagues develop as their careers progress. He considers his greatest achievement to be his contribution towards expanding our framework membership to our current level of seven since obtaining our first in 2008 and helping our teams successfully deliver a diverse range of projects for these clients.
