Joint Divisional Managing Director

Bob joined Barnes Construction in 1985 as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, having previously trained with a national contractor, progressing through the surveying department until his appointment as Surveying Director in 1999. In 2018, Bob was promoted to Joint Divisional Managing Director alongside Mark Hart. Bob leads the commercial side of the business, with responsibility for the Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Buying, Plant & Transport, Marketing, HR, and administrative business functions.

Bob has been involved with the hospitality sector throughout his career at Barnes Construction and from the late 1990s has led our hotel team developing our expertise as a respected and leading constructor within the hotel sector.

A key part of Bob’s role is ensuring that our growing business remains true to the family values originally instilled by David Barnes, ensuring that Barnes Construction remains client-focussed, non-confrontational, and delivers long-term benefits to the communities we operate within.
