THE PROJECT COMPRISED OF A NEW THREE STOREY EXTENSION, REFURBISHMENT AND REBUILDING OF THE FIRE DAMAGED ROBERT PEARCE HOUSE.
The appearance of the building will remain largely unchanged, and restored to its original condition.
The works included asbestos removal within the existing boiler room and other parts of the building. Other works included the demolition of the existing boiler house, kitchen, office and dining room to the North Eastern corner of the site. As part of the demolition phase, the existing façade, running parallel to Maze Green Road was temporarily propped, supported and eventually tied back into the new internal structure.
The new three storey extension will be constructed using a cross-laminated timber frame structure and provide accommodation along with a staff house for Bishop’s Stortford College.
Key Features of the Project include:
- New three storey extension
- Cross-laminated timber frame building structure
- Demolition of existing buildings
- Asbestos removal
