THE PROJECT COMPRISED OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FOUR STOREY GRADUATE ACCOMMODATION BUILDING INCORPORATING 85 STUDY BEDROOMS TOGETHER WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW CHANGING FACILITIES FOR THE ADJACENT FENNERS CRICKET GROUND SPORTS CENTRE.
The existing student accommodation building was demolished and the new building was constructed using a reinforced concrete frame with a roof level steel frame structure to the upper floor. The external building envelope was formed with combination of facing brickwork with stone detailing and aluminium curtain walling and composite windows. The roof finishes comprised of a combination of pantiles to pitched areas and felt roofing to flat roof areas.
Internally, the study bedrooms and corridor areas were formed with metal stud partitions together with prefabricated shower pods to each of the rooms. The accommodation also included communal areas, kitchen spaces and ground floor cycle storage. A feature landscaped courtyard was formed to the front of the site including decorative railings and entrance gates
