The project comprised of the construction of a new two storey classroom block incorporating six classrooms, food technology room, new hall and welfare facilities. The project also included the construction of a new 5-a-side MUGA pitch, hard playground areas and extended car park. The MUGA and hard playground areas were undertaken early stage in the scheme to allow the school use of these facilities whilst the main building works was undertaken.
The new classroom block was constructed using a two storey steel frame set on traditional concrete strip and pad foundations together with a precast concrete beam and block ground floor slab. The external envelope to the building was formed using a Metsec lightweight gauge steel infill framing finished to the outer face with render panels and rainscreen cladding. The flat roof was finished with a single ply roofing membrane roof system. Internal partitions were formed using a combination of blockwork and metal stud partitions. School quality internal finishing’s and fittings were provided as part of the scheme.
Mechanical and Electrical services included underfloor heating, heat recovery ventilation and smart lighting systems. We also carried out works within the existing school by installing a new fire alarm system, upgrading the CCTV and the refurbishment of three of the existing classrooms.
