TOPPING OUT TAKES PLACE AT PAXMAN ACADEMY IN COLCHESTER

19 October 2018

Cllr Ray Gooding, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Skills took part in a topping out ceremony at Paxman Academy in Colchester.

Barnes Construction was awarded the £14 million contract to build the new school earlier this year, and when completed in Autumn 2019, it will provide 900 much needed spaces for the local community.

Pictured is Mark Bailey with Cllr Ray Gooding and Cllr Tony Ball, Deputy Cabinet Member for Education helping with laying the last piece of Bauder felt cap sheet on the roof. Also pictured is Ian Jordan from GRM Roofing.

Paxman Academy, which will be run by The Sigma Trust, incorporates a three-storey building with 20 classrooms, a library, a suite of science laboratories, technology workshops, and a sports hall. Outside there will be a new multi-use games area and grass sports pitches.
